Hobert was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He later worked as a Signal Maintainer for the KCS Railroad. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Pittsburg, Kansas.

He was also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.1 He was described as [not mine] on 1 October 2004 at [9539919]. He was buried at Oklahoma.
